Ken Ballmann NCARED Chairperson The Horseshoe Bend Community Development Committee is a group of residents interested in the future growth of this community and is working with the Arkansas Department of Economic Development. It is necessary to continue working toward and maintaining the goals originally outlined in our quest to become an ACE Community. Records of the actions planned and taken by the committee must be recorded and submitted periodically to the State in order to maintain our ACE status. Past History of the ACE Program: June 26, 2003 Horseshoe Bend became the 66th Arkansas Community of Excellence (ACE). Pam Criste with the Arkansas Department of Economic Development presented the City the ACE Award Certification at ceremonies held at the Hillhigh Hotel and Spa Resort. The ACE Certification Award was presented to Mayor Bob Spear, Chamber of Commerce President Murlene Hagerty and Chamber of Commerce Past President Kathryn Randall. They were recertified in June of 2004. ACE certification requires an "Ambassador Program". Our Ambassadors objective is to attract new retirees to relocate in the Horseshoe Bend area. To fulfill that objective our Ambassadors answer inquiries received about Horseshoe Bend, send our promotional materials including videos and conduct tours of the area. Tours are provided at no cost and can be given by auto, or by pontoon boat on the 640 acre Crown Lake. Our video "Where New Friendships Begin In The Ozark Foothills" is available at the Chamber office. This 17 minute video outlines the many amenities that Horseshoe Bend has to offer. Community effort was required to receive ACE Certification. Efforts to promote the Horseshoe Bend Area, include the installation of three large billboards on Hwys. 61/412 which proclaim Horseshoe Bend as a place for Affordable Quality Living. The Chamber of Commerce also advertises in the Ozark Gateway Magazine and will again be represented in the next issue of Retirement and Relocation Magazine. A cookbook, published by the Chamber of Commerce, has been extremely popular and is available at the Chamber office. Horseshoe Bend Area Chamber of Commerce 811 Second St. #18 Revised 09/12/2007 |
